We have had links with the wider community since our inception in 1935. Our services are well-known throughout the Toowoomba region and we have a long standing reputation for offering quality and comfort. Salem operates in two separate locations, both just minutes from Toowoomba's town centre: Salem Lutheran Aged Care and Northridge Salem.

Salem Lutheran Aged Care specialises in providing residential aged care to older Australians, including:

low care services

high care, and

dementia support.

“The staff have always been very approachable and helpful whenever we feel the need to have a chat about mum and her problems as her dementia worsens. The diversional therapists are wonderful with so many interesting activities planned to fill the day. We usually find mum occupied by quizzes, word games, painting, cooking and pampering sessions. She is also happy with her spiritual care. Her room is always clean and tidy as are her toilet and bathroom facilities. We also appreciate the volunteers, visiting choirs and musicians who help fill in the hours for residents. We are very grateful for the care mum receives.”

Our Northridge Salem service offers low care and includes a secure 14 room dementia special care unit. Our service features an award winning dementia garden and an abundance of orchids filling the environment with a natural ambience. Scented gardens, fish, birds, children and families help shape Salem's model of care based on principles of the Eden Alternative.

“The wonderful Director of Nursing Maxine sometimes sits with mum at lunchtime to help her eat her meal, and also to provide company. There is a lovely little garden outside the section of Northridge known as Magnolia Manor. It is the voluntary work of various of the staff who work at Northridge – apparently one lady, in particular, can work a full shift at Northridge, then put on her gardening gloves and work in the garden for a couple of hours. As you can see, it's full of colour. Mum is as well cared for and happy as she could possibly be which is an enormous relief for me.”

Salem and Northridge Salem offer a varied activities program to give our residents the opportunity to be mentally stimulated, have a sense of meaning and enjoy a social life.
