Eldercare Evanston Park was built in 2008. It incorporates dementia-friendly architechure and interior design and a warm welcoming environment. Evanston Park is located on the outskirts of the country township of Gawler and is only a short distance from the local hospital medical centre and ambulance service. Local shops including a supermarket and chemist are also in close proximity. Evanston Park is one of our larger facilities providing 100 individually air-conditioned single rooms in modern spacious surroundings. Evanston Park is innovative in its approach and was chosen as the first facility to roll out Eldercare's new Dementia Excellence Program. Evanston Park has landscaped gardens some of which have raised gardens beds for resident use through our gardening program a gazebo area for BBQs and family functions and an abundance of outdoor seating. The facility features enclosed courtyard gardens as well as serene water features. Our expansive first floor balcony with views of the Hills is used during weekly 'happy hours' and for regular social barbeques. Residents in our specialist memory unit enjoy a secure sensory garden. Meals are cooked onsite daily by a chef. A continental breakfast is provided Monday - Saturday with a cooked breakfast offered on Sundays. There is a choice of two courses for lunch and three courses for evening meal. Home baked items are provided for morning and afternoon tea. An internet kiosk is available for residents to utilise with assistance from volunteers. In addition to our comprehensive clinical care program our lifestyle program is well regarded and the residents choose many of the outings and activities. The computer classes are very popular with residents who use the equipment to Skype family and friends and pursue their own interests. Residents are visited regularly by Ellie our onsite Pets As Therapy dog when she does 'the rounds'. Special events include our Christmas Carols and the Gawler Show of which we are a major sponsor and exhibitor. For residents who choose to maintain an active involvement in their faith we offer regular Lutheran Church and Anglican services. We also maintain links with other religious denominations and our onsite chaplain provides emotional support to families and residents.
